“Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate.” Sounds complicated in the original Latin, eh? Translated, it means “Do not posit plurality without necessity.” Occam’s Razor tells us that the simplest solution that will work is generally the best.
“If you’re not making yourself uncomfortable, then you’re not making anyone else uncomfortable. And if you’re not making anyone else uncomfortable, you’re not changing anything, and you’re not leading anything either.” Comfort and complacency are killers.
“Knowledge captured but not applied is wasted effort.” Don’t just learn from your mistakes — learn from your successes and grow from both.
These three concepts have strongly influenced Client Partner Martin Thompson’s approach to consulting for over 30 years. During this time he has helped clients succeed in the Energy, Chemicals, Distribution, Pharmaceutical, Telecommunications, Education and Consumer Goods industries in areas as varied as Organization Design, Management Systems, Coaching and Development, Process Excellence, Change Leadership and Culture Change. Prior to his consulting career, he was a manager with The Coca-Cola Company.
Martin enjoys family, work and sports, especially college football. Beyond his enjoyment of the big hits and impressive passes, catches and runs, he also enjoys gleaning life and business lessons from teams and individual players as well as historic and business events. He applies these lessons to his client work by coaching, educating, challenging and intervening to achieve deeper insights and create purposeful actions.
Martin received a B.A. in Communications from Auburn University. He and his wife have been married for nearly 40 years. They have three children and four grandchildren — and hope for even more of the latter.
